INSPECTION & CLEANING

What to expect at your Chimney Inspection and or Cleaning

Having your fireplace cleaned will automatically come with an inspection.

  • First a certified technician will confirm the reason and details of the appointment to make sure your needs are met - Your inspection will be broken down into 2 parts, first being the condition and safety of your fireplace, then the condition and health of your exterior chimney.
  • Next they will lay out protective drop cloths at the access point of the fireplace to protect the room right outside the fireplace and begin performing the inspection
  • If your fireplace looks like it has creosote build up that needs to be swept you will then be prompted with photos of the inside of your fireplace and chimney if it needs to be cleaned in order to perform a thorough inspection.
  • When the cleaning is taking place a vacuum will be controlling the dust and debris at the bottom of the fireplace so your home stays clean and rotary sweeping tools will be used to remove the creosote from the inside surfaces of your chimney.
  • After the inspection and or cleaning portion is done at the bottom the technician will then set up a ladder to head up to the roof and finish the inspection by examining the exterior of your chimney along with your flue liner from the top looking down to your fireplace.
  • By the end of the Cleaning or Inspection you will be presented with photos covering the entirety of your chimney and fireplace and solutions to any problems there may be with your chimney and or fireplace.

Make sure your fireplace is safe to use by having a certified chimney sweep technician perform an inspection.

Most masonry chimneys have a clay flue lining system inside the chimney. When exposed to harsh Minnesota winter weather conditions, moisture, and high temperatures from the fireplace, the clay lining system can be damaged as a result. Creosote is the residue that is left behind in your fireplace and flue liner when having a fire, it is extremely flammable and acidic. Creosote left uncleaned will lead to higher risk of a chimney fire and deterioration of the inside of your chimney. Having your fireplace inspected by a certified professional will tell you what you need to know in order to have safe fires in your home.
